Mental Health in Alabama: Families Need More Than Awareness

Across Alabama, families are quietly struggling with addiction, mental health disorders, and the heartache of watching loved ones spiral. While awareness around mental health is rising statewide through public programs, education, and increased conversation what many families need most is direct, personal support that meets them where they are: in crisis, in confusion, and in fear.

It’s here that Clear Path Intervention steps in. We provide professional intervention Alabama families can trust when they’ve tried everything else or don’t even know where to begin. We specialize in family-based interventions for substance use, mental health disorders, and complex behavioral challenges. But more than that, we provide clarity, compassion, and continuity during the moments when families feel most overwhelmed.

Who We Are: Grounded in Experience, Guided by Compassion

Clear Path Intervention is a nationally recognized, family-operated organization rooted in personal recovery and professional practice. Founded by Brad Garraway, a nationally certified intervention professional, Clear Path has expanded to serve families across the country particularly throughout Alabama, where Brad and several of our team members have strong local roots.

We are not a call center. We are not tied to any one treatment facility. We’re a hands-on, person-first service built to walk with you from the first phone call to long-term recovery. Each of our interventionists brings a mix of professional credentials and personal experience in recovery, which helps us lead with empathy not judgment.

“We don’t just intervene,” says Brad. “We educate, we guide, and we walk beside families for the entire journey. The intervention is just the start.”

Our Approach: Why Family-Centered Interventions Work

At the core of our work is one guiding truth: addiction doesn’t just affect one person it affects the whole family. That’s why we focus on educating, empowering, and organizing loved ones before we ever attempt to intervene.

A successful intervention isn’t just a dramatic confrontation. It’s a carefully prepared event where families come together with a shared voice and a plan. Here’s how we help make that happen:

1. Family Education & Strategy Building

We begin with a structured, private family meeting virtually or in-person where we help you understand addiction as a brain disorder, not a character flaw. We teach families how enabling behaviors work, what boundaries are needed, and what to expect emotionally during the intervention and afterward.

“We’re teaching people to speak a different emotional language,” Brad explains. “It’s not about control. It’s about support that holds firm.”

2. The Intervention Event

Once the family is ready and a plan is in place, we facilitate a formal intervention. We guide the process with care and professionalism, making sure every voice is heard and emotions stay grounded. The goal is never shame it’s action, compassion, and a pathway forward.

3. Treatment Navigation

If the individual agrees to accept help, we assist in finding and placing them in an appropriate treatment program. We are completely independent meaning we don’t accept payment or kickbacks from treatment centers. Our referrals are based on the client’s needs, not on affiliations.

This step may involve detox, residential rehab, outpatient care, mental health support, or specialized trauma work. We also coordinate logistics such as intake assessments, packing, insurance guidance, and intake timing.

4. Safe Transportation

We offer sober transportation services to help clients safely arrive at their treatment destination. Whether it’s a drive across town or a flight across the country, our trained staff ensures a smooth, stress-free transition.

5. Post-Intervention Case Management

Once a client enters treatment, families are often left with lingering questions: What happens next? How can we support their recovery? What if relapse happens?

Our ongoing case management services provide structured support, coordination, and updates so families don’t feel abandoned after the intervention. We can act as a liaison between the treatment center and the family, ensuring communication, accountability, and long-term planning.

Why Alabama Families Call Us

Clear Path Intervention is proud to serve families in Birmingham, Huntsville, Montgomery, Mobile, Tuscaloosa, Auburn, and every small town in between. We are deeply familiar with the cultural, social, and healthcare dynamics of the region, and we tailor our work accordingly.

Whether your loved one is struggling with alcohol, opioids, methamphetamine, benzodiazepines, or a co-occurring mental health disorder like anxiety, bipolar disorder, or PTSD, our team is equipped to help.

You don’t need to wait until someone hits “rock bottom.” That’s a myth. We’ve seen hundreds of people say “yes” to help long before the worst happens because their family took the courageous step to act.

What Makes Us Different?

We’re often asked what sets Clear Path apart from other services. Here’s what we believe makes the difference:

  • We don’t sell treatment we support people.
We’ll never refer your loved one to a facility based on money or perks. Every recommendation is earned through trust, research, and fit.

  • We empower families to be part of the recovery.
You’ll learn how to change patterns, set boundaries, and support your loved one without enabling.

  • We offer continuity.
Many interventionists disappear after day one. We stay engaged through placement, transport, aftercare, and follow-up. You’ll never feel alone.

  • We have lived experience.
Many on our team are in long-term recovery themselves. We understand the complexity of addiction, mental health, and family pain not just in theory, but in real life.

When to Call: Common Situations We Help With

  • A teen or young adult showing signs of withdrawal, isolation, or erratic behavior

  • A loved one refusing treatment or denying they have a problem

  • A family divided or unsure about how to help

  • An individual cycling through short-term detoxes without sustainable recovery

  • Alcohol, opioid, or meth addiction paired with mental health concerns

  • Chronic relapse or treatment-resistant patterns

You don’t need to be sure it’s “bad enough.” If you’re even asking the question, it’s time to talk.

The Human Side of This Work

Our clients aren’t case numbers. They’re parents, daughters, husbands, sons, and friends.

We’ve helped families reconnect after years of estrangement. We’ve supported young adults entering recovery who once swore they’d never accept help. We’ve coached grieving parents through impossible decisions and watched them become champions for recovery within their families.

“It’s not just about stopping the substance it’s about rebuilding the family,” Brad says. “When people heal together, the changes last.”

If You’re Ready, So Are We

We know it’s hard to ask for help. We know it’s even harder to pick up the phone and involve someone outside your family. But if what you’ve been trying hasn’t worked, it might be time to try something new something more structured, compassionate, and effective.

Clear Path Intervention is here to offer that support. You don’t have to do this alone.
